In this one-card game, a group of players attempts to name the presidents. If you can't name a previously-unnamed president in 30 seconds, you're out of the game!
And, as part of our Play It Forward line of games, the last person playing the game not only wins the game ... they get to keep it!
Try these alternate rules for a slightly different game challenge:
Setup:
Give each player a piece of paper and something to write with. Put the card, rules side up, in the center of the table, so you can reference the list of presidents if needed.
Gameplay:
The owner of the game asks everyone to write down the name of one president. After thirty seconds, go around and each person tells the president they wrote down.
Players are eliminated if:
1. They don't write down a name
2. They name a person who was never President of the United States.
3. They use the same name as given in the current or previous round.
Winner:
Be the last player remaining at the end of a round. If all players in the round are eliminated, then there is no winner.
Example:
In the first round of an 8-player game, two players write Abraham Lincoln so are eliminated. In the second round (now with 6 players), two players write George Washington and one writes John F. Kennedy. The two players who wrote George Washington are eliminated, as well as the player who wrote John F. Kennedy.
Benefits of this Variant:
In the standard game, players will typically begin with the most popular presidents, and the game gets progressively harder as play continues and you reach the more obscure and less famous presidents. This variant incentives players to learn the more obscure presidents and to start with them early in the game. Using a popular president is more likely to get you eliminated.
