In this fast-paced card game of scientific discovery, rival science academies recruit teams of history's greatest thinkers to outshine all others by creating inventions while also creating, supporting, and refuting scientific hypotheses.
In Eureka Science Academy, players represent science academies, recruiting teams of history's greatest scientists, mathematicians, and inventors to work together to create inventions and develop hypotheses. They also have the option to refute the hypotheses of others, and also to defend their own hypotheses.
Each turn, players recruit historical Thinkers across the domains of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.
The main goal of the game is to get Eureka Points, primarily through playing Hypothesis and Invention cards into your tableau. Many cards have instantaneous powers that activate, while some have Perpetual powers that are always in play or Cyclic powers that can be activated by any player each turn.
If another player activates the Cyclic ability on your card, then your cards become more powerful
As your team of Thinkers grow, and you play more cards into your set, players gain access to more actions each turn, and the ability to support their own Hypothesis cards and refute the Hypothesis of others.

Andrew has an undergraduate degree in Physics from Wabash College. For 10 years, he was the Physics Guide on About.com, writing and editing all physics content. He is the lead author of String Theory For Dummies. He wrote the script for the Ted-Ed Video "Does Time Exist?"
Andrew began his career nearly 25 years ago with several years in the classroom teaching advanced mathematics to inner city students in the Detroit metro area. He then transitioned to educational assessment and curriculum design, earning a Master's degree in Mathematics Education. He's performed work for companies such as CTB/McGraw-Hill, Discovery Education, and PBS NOVA, and has worked on multiple state and federal assessment projects. He currently is a senior assessment staff in a state Department of Education.
Though Andrew is a lifelong gamer, Eureka Science Academy is Andrew's first attempt at game design. In an effort to grow in this area, he's completed a certificate in Applied Game Design from Central Michigan University (in conjunction with GenCon). This work has resulted in multiple game ideas that will come out in due time.
Here I am, meeting Wil Wheaton (and giving him a signed copy of String Theory For Dummies) at GenCon 2010.
